HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HUBBY!

Today is Bill's birthday!  Not much going on today...but will have his son and family here this weekend and next week...and we will have lots of birthdays to celebrate!  My SIL, DIL, and a granddaughter.  It has been a few years since they have been down for a visit..... so it is a great Treat!

I have been busy spinning on Ravelry for our Tour de Fleece:

This is the skein plied on the spindle that I spun and of course plied on, and this next pic is the yarn in a skein.

This is just one of many skeins I have spun.

I have also been bit by the slipper bug and have been crocheting up these cute slippers:

My grandsons ( 3 and 5) just got here.... Mom and Dad are off to school....they are spending the night.  So I will have to come back another day........

Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Well, it has been almost a year since I last posted. I almost feel like getting a brand new blog ... but this is just like a new one ..... So I hope to post more often again!!!

Here is a picture of my first tatted stitch markers:

I have also been making butterflys, flowers, and turtle stitch markers.

I will see if I can get pics added and be back later.

So ready for SPRING

I know snow is very pretty........ I have pics from my front yard here. This was the last major snow storm.

My dogs loved it......running and playing in it. My grandkids liked it. The cardinals, bluejays and other birds all were very pretty feeding on the birdseed. This is a pic off my front porch...you can see one of the bird feeders...but the birds were shy...no pics please.

I do not drive in this stuff especially when there is almost an inch of ice underneath it. My husband does not like to drive the 45 miles to his work and back in it....especially since our nice car was totalled in the snow/blizzard on Christmas Eve.....but at least we were not hurt.....a little "gun shy" though.
When husband is home I do not get much done around the house either. I did get some tatted stitch markers done and some tatted earrings....knitted some cute dishcloths....and crocheted some cute hearts for Valentine's Day. That was good.

I want to plant my garden! So even though the snow is very pretty....I am so READY for SPRING!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Happy New year everyone!!!!
I hope this year will be a good one for all of us....I know I am ready for a good year.
Hopefully, I will be better about posting.
I have been busy tatting stitch markers, earrings, knitting dishclothes, coin purses, and crocheting chap stick holders.

The first swap I am involved with this year is with my Pincushion group on Ravelry. Its such a fun group! We are doing a dish towel, coaster major swap...and a small informal swap...of mug cosies, tea bag wallets...etc...

My partner sent me a lovely package very quickly:

The package I sent to my partner is the picture at the top.....her favorite colors are navy and pink.
This was the informal swap...I am still working on the major swap.

It's just a start.....and it is going to be fun!

The top picture is of my first piece of lace...it is a sampler....it isn't perfect...but it is my first piece of bobbin lace.

This next picture is of my bobbin lace pillow, pincushion, cover cloths, bobbin holder and bobbins and the carrying case for all of it. I just love this butterfly material. The tradional way to cover the pillows is with solid blue or green fabric....but my pillow has a hint of butterflies on the bluish material...and I think I will enjoy it better.

I have been busy with some sewing I needed to do...but hope this coming weekend will allow me to get back to working on the bobbin lace. I will be making a bookmark next. It is fun....but a challenge for me. I have also been doing more tatting...and right now I am "stuck" on tatting butterflies on paperclips.

I really like butterfies and have tatted 150 so far.....I was tatting some when I found the butterfly fabric for my bobbin lace pillow and bag and all......

I am still knitting on my shawl, and the February Lady Sweater for my DD, and the socks for DH....hopefully I can have pics of those the next time.

March is a good month for crafting and sewing!

I have been busy this month...and last month! I am making lots of pincushions.....having fun sewing them too. I have some for sale at SWAK...my LYS....

Here is one of the pics of pincushions.....I took to SWAK.

I participated in another wonderful pincushion swap from Ravelry......one of my partners loves to weave....so I made her a Boat Shuttle pincushion.

This is the pic of the pincushion sitting in front of a real boat shuttle sitting on top of a warped loom.

The top pic is part of what I recieved from my other partner in the swap. I can't get this pic where I want it....so will just tell about it here....LOL
I recieved 2 very nice quilted pincushions....as you can see the heart shaped one has my initial monogrammed on it. This pic does not do them justice......but they are gorgeous.

I have also been doing some knitting.....I have 3 major projects going ......

1. Lady February Sweater for my daughter
2. A pair of socks for DH ( my first pair to knit for him)
3. A really nice rectangle shawl with a collar for me.

I am also learning Bobbin Lace....I finally joined my local Lace Guild. I have my pillow that I covered...and bag to carry it in....some bobbins.....but need some more....I bought some to "spangle"...that is putting beads on the bottom of the bobbin so the bobbins stay in place better.....I'll have to get pics..... I am thinking I may want to get some square bobbins next......

I will try to have some pics of these the next time!

OH CHRISTMAS TREE...OH CHRISTMAS TREE.....

This is the cutest pin cushion that I recieved in the Holiday Pincushion Swap on Ravelry. My partner f1fan...said this was her first pincushion....she did a GREAT job. She also sent me some very nice kid mohair yarn, a cotton/merino yarn....and other goodies. It was funny we both felted a sweater to make each other a pincushion. I made her a pincushion that looks like a fairisle sweater. She loves sweaters and fall colors...and I just happened to find a sweater that fit...washed and threw in the dryer (to felt) and made her a sweater pin cushion. I can't seem to find a picture but my name is Zellspin on Ravelry and you can see pic of it on my flicker account.

I have been busy working on Christmas gifts...tatting ornaments....the usual.... I think I am doing pretty good. I am looking forward to Christmas parties this Sunday. One with the Lace Guild and one with the Knitting guild....I just love getting together with friends and celebrating.

OK guess I will get back to work.

Happy Thaanksgiving and other things

<
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I love Thanksgiving...I love turkey, ham dressing.....yum yum and pecan pies!! Yep I will be busy cooking all of that!!! Not too many coming to our house...but that is OK we will have fun eating and hopefully playing Mexican Dominoes, or cards...or maybe watching a movie. I know hubby is getting excited to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.....that just starts the holidays for him...LOL

Other things:
I am excited that the SWAK store in Guthrie has some of my items in there on consignment: my tatted earrings, fingerwoven earrings, some knitted scarves, cloth dolls, and some pincushions.
My latest passion is making and recieving pincushions. I joined the pincushion group on Ravelry and it is such a FUN group!! I recently got the cutest cornicopia pincushion for our last swap. It is in the bottom right side of picture. Lori also sent me the fat Quarters, and basket cornicopia and 3 skeins of yarn...one being a lavender color of sock yarn.

I just love doing swaps!! It is so much fun to try and get the other person what they like from their questionaire, blogs, etc... and fun to see what they pick out for you too.

This picture is some of my handspun yarn that I also have at Swak in Guthrie. I am so excited about Swak's Fiber Bazarr!!!

Hello I am here again!!

July has been another busy month so far.....June was too....I have joined several knitted dishcloth exchanges....2 pin cushion exchanges...and 1 drop spindle exchange. I will send my drop spindle box out on Friday.....and I have until the 26th of July to send my pincushion. I have really enjoyed these exchanges!

I have been busy making fingerwoven and tatted earrings..... as you can see in my pic. I have done a ton of charity knitting, a "Pidge Scarve"......being on medical leave has been fun in that I am getting knitting and such done.

I have more pics on my Ravalry site....Zellspin. I hope to go to the Kellyville Fiber festival on the 26th of this month and sell these fingerwoven and tatted earrings...along with other things I do.

Well I am off to bed...but wanted to leave a post....trying to do better in my blogging.......SEE YA!!!!!

Once again....a LONG time since posting....sigh

Well....here I go again....I have not posted for a long time. I am just bummed...I still can't get pics posted. I think I need a new computer....sigh....that is not going to happen for awhile.....

I have been having fun joining in some exchanges..from Ravelry. My Ravelry name is Zellspin. I have participated in the knitted dishcloth exchanged...and recieved a nice Vortax dishcloth from Yarn Whisperer from Canada...she also sent some Bernat cotton yarn(part of exchange) and a knit counter, some Canadian stickers, and a Bracelet with Canadian Flag...these were some nice extras.

I participated in the pin cushion swap and recieved a nice pincushion with some quilting pins...

I am doing another pin cushion swap and a spindle swap now and having lots of fun....planning, making and gathering for these two.

I have been having fun with other exchanges too!

I just finished knitting lots of preemie baby items for our guild... they ran a contest and I won first place.... it was fun...my prize was 3 balls of Jojoland, Harmony merino lace weight yarn...there is 880 yards in each ball..and they recommend size Us # 0.....that will be the tiniest yarn I have ever knit with.....

Well... until next time....hopefully very soon...LOL

Happy knitting, crocheting, quilting, weaving...........

A Brand New Year!!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas....Holiday!!! Here's wishing all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I know I am hoping for a Happy New Year. Just too much not so great happenings since last year.......
I was visiting some of the blogs I read...and decided to join Jan's "Play it Forward exchange"....it sounds like a wonderful thing to start off the New Year with. Here is her blog so you can see what fun we will be having...http://caffinna.wordpress.com

This "exchange" is based on the movie "Pay it Forward" where acts of deeds or kindness are done without expecting something in return....just passing it on with the hope that the recipients
will pass their acts of kindness on.
So... I will make a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment to this post on my blog...requesting to join this PIF exchange. I will send out my gifts within 6 months of your posting.

I did get most of my knitting gifts done...just a few more...but will not see these recipeints till sometime in January so I do have a little more time....LOL

All really liked their scarves, fingerless mitts, dolls, doll clothes.....etc.......

Here it is getting closer to Christmas and I am busy working on gifts......but I did get one of my families gifts off to them last Friday and they opened them yesterday and loved everything. I sent it early 'cause my son is home from Afghanistan... so they had their Christmas early. The girls loved their rag dolls and extra clothes....when they went to change the dolls clothes they discovered I had wrote in a Heart... I love you Haleigh, Tori, and Lexi.

I am now working on my daughters family box to be shipped to Calif......hopefully before Christmas...usually I am so late with theirs....it just works that way.

It's about time!!!

Yeah I know it has been awhile...again..... oh well ...here I am now. Went to my knitting guild meeting today...had a new friend come too...she loved it! She said it felt like home...she just moved here from Fort Worth, Texas area.

I turned in quite a few preemie hats and 3 regular size baby hats. I really enjoy knitting for babies.

I was at our fiber festival last weekend, and bought a 14" triangle loom, among other things. Took it home and learned how to weave on it and made a preemie baby blanket. I think it turned out ok....just need to finish the baby bunting(line it) and then I will turn it in next month.

I have been away from the guild for a long time ...but have been back for the last 3 months and am really glad...I missed everyone. Getting new knitters every month too.

WEll...that is all for now....I really need to figure out how to get more pics on here... Have some from winning ribbons at the fair, this new blanket... ... I hopw I can get my scanner to working again!!!

Later all!!!

I have been busy since last year the fair ended...spinning up yarn to enter this year, and some knitting too. I pulled out a bably quilt to finish and will put that in too. I just love to enter things in the fair. This week is dedicated to finishing up on some of the entries. I have 21 in all. Mostly for the handspinning categories.

I am still working on my MS3 stole.....but put it aside this weekend and for this week...till I get all my entries ready to go.
I am still on clue 2 on both of them....yes I am doing 2 . I hope to get them done and post pics. Now I have to get my scanner working again. What I really need is a new computer and all.....but guess I will not be geting one of those.

WOW!!! It has been along time.

WOw it has been a long time since I posted in here. I have been busy with physical therapy on my knee. That takes a lot of time 2 times a week and I get pretty tired. I just can't beleive it takes so much time and energy out of you.

I have 2 MS3 shawls started...hope to post pics soon. They are my first lace project. One s out of fingering yarn...(the smallest yarn I have knitted with yet) and the othe one is out of a very soft worsted weight ...maybe... yarn. These are doing pretty well. I have had some trouble with the purple smaller yarn one..... I have had to knit and take it out and re nit in sveral places....ha ha......I just can't believe I am having to do this so much....but I will get them done.

Well that is all for now. I have some pics I want to post so will be back in here soon.

Socks and Fingerless Mitts

I have finally finished my pink socks. I had them knitted for over a year...and tonight at our Guthrie Knit Nite Out...Ginny helped me with the Kitchner stitch on the 2nd sock....Jo Ellyn had helped me with the Kitchner stich on the first sock.....I just can't seem to do this by myself...but I will one day...I hope. I used a cotten blend yarn called Rio...I believe...will have to find the label to know for sure...but they are soft.

The first pic is of my fingerless mitts that I designed myself...using my handspun yarn. The cuff is done a ribbing with angora rabbit yarn, the pattern center partis done with the angora rabbit, alpaca(pink) and wool/alpaca(darker color).....then back with the angora bunnie yarn and finshed with wool yarn. I think they will be really warm next winter...what I wanted...am planning on knitting a winter headband to go with them. They look nicer in real life...I think the fuzzy bunnie yarn makes the picture kinda fuzzy.

Well...you can see I still do not know how to do the pics right...but I hope to learn sometime!!!! I have some more socks on the needles...a pair for hubby and another pair for me......Later all!

More about El Reno Visit

Here is a pic of my hubby and Hondo when they got off the trolly. Hondo was very ready to get off....he was ready for a walk on the grass and close to trees...if you know what I mean...LOL

While on the trolly I took this pic of the painted side of a big building in the downtown. It had a pic of the trolly. It is the top pic.

I just love El Reno...we use to live there and help at the museum...set up our "camps" at their 89er event. I have done lots of spinning on my wheel for them. Well, guess that is all for now. I am going to try to see how to put these pics on here.... I have some other "knitting" pics to share and fiber pics too.
